We are getting closer to the actual competition. We began the day with introductions and learned a bit about the history of the Web Design contest at WorldSkills. The first happened in 2001 and it has grown steadily ever since. Most of the day, we focused on coordinating how we plan to do assessments and making needed changes to projects and more. We are also confirming that all the necessary software on the infrastructure list is working on each competitor workstation. All told, it was about 16 hours of effort today.
As we get closer to the actual competitions, the lines are growing significantly longer. This was the line for lunch today.
That being said, this is a great opportunity to network with colleagues and make new friends. In addition to all the cultural and food experiences, it is fantastic to find like minded passionate people. I had the chance to speak at length with some individuals today. Here is an example. Note that in the photo, there is a writing “Welcome to Abu Dhabi” in many languages. I am also in the photo with great colleagues (Amin from Iran and Heinz from Colombia).
Hopefully, this gives you some idea of what happened today. It was very busy and another day is about to start. Hope readers enjoy this overview.
