I am teaching a class this semester on the business use of social media (CMWEB141). In broad terms, these sites/ tools enable relationships and information sharing. As the first assignment in class, I asked students to develop a list of social media sites. Obviously, there was more to this assignment than just generating a list of sites (such as explaining the business value of those they identified). I thought it might be appropriate to share my solution (list of sites aspect). The assignment was due yesterday so it seems appropriate to post this information today. For those reading this post, I am curious what sites you would include that I have overlooked (or what sites I have included that you think don’t belong). I realize this is a continually changing landscape. However, I did find it curious that I could identify well over 100 sites without “breaking a sweat.” Obviously not all are extensively used and some are in languages other than English. Still, I thought it might be appropriate to simply collect a list of such sites. If you click on the image below, a new page/ tab will open in your browser and you can click on any of the links to visit the appropriate site. You may note that I have tried to alphabetize these sites. What did I miss?
I look forward to your comments and additional sites.
I don’t have a site to add, but your colorful list reminded me of Pininterest, a site I had never heard of before this lab assignment. What drives this site is a stunning array of visual images that are related in some way and all have relevant content. Well done Professor DuBois!
Hi John:
Many thanks for your kind word. I am most appreciative.
Best,
Mark
May I use this photo for an educational presentation regarding social media and the law?
You may use this for your educational presentation. I would appreciate receiving credit for the image. I would greatly appreciate receiving a copy of your final presentation (always like to see where materials are used). Thanks for asking.
Best always,
Mark
Thanks Mark. I’ll send you an email today at … with the presentation.
Presentation received. Brandon – many thanks for including my work in your presentation. I am honored.
