The 2012 state wide web design contest for Illinois was held at the Capital Area Career Center in Springfield on April 27. I would have posted these images sooner, but for the eye problems encountered shortly after the contest (see Life Happens post). Now that I have limited vision, I have selected some photos taken during the competition. There were separate competitions for secondary and post-secondary students. First place winners advance to the national competition held in June in Kansas City. I look forward to seeing the first place winners in Kansas City.
Students were asked to complete a series of 6 separate challenges dealing with various aspects of web standards (for example, making an old frames based set of pages accessible and employing modern best practices to update those pages). HTML, CSS, and JavaScript challenges were included. Students also needed to create a logo for a specific company. Students also had to complete a quiz on various aspects of web standards and industry best practices. I hope you enjoy the selection of photos shown below.
